Mossback Grant Complete at Lake Mineral Wells

Fort Worth Fly Fishers Complete Conservation Project on Lake Mineral Wells

FORT WORTH, TX (March 4, 2020) - On Saturday, February 29, volunteers from the Fort Worth Fly Fishers joined staff of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Inland Fisheries Division – Denison Office to assemble and deploy fish habitat structures in Lake Mineral Wells.

The project resulted in the placement of eight artificial Mossback structures in strategic locations around the lake to create sheltered environments enabling juvenile fish to avoid predators such as larger fish and birds.

“As fly fishers, we recognize the important role conservation plays in allowing us to pursue our passion,” said David Hooper, President of Fort Worth Fly Fishers.  “Projects such as these, ensure our local waters will continue to provide angling opportunities for the future.”

Major funding for the project was the result of a grant from Friends of Reservoirs, inc. and Mossback Fish Habitat.
