Project Information
Reservoir NameLake Fork Reservoir
Please describe the project objective(s).

This project to to introduce more artificial fish attractors (aka Georgia Cubes) back into Lake Fork Reservoir after the 2022-2023 draw down to do repair work to the dam and the lack of spring rains in 2023 to replenish the water level of the lake. ]

Please describe the project methods. Will the product be used in conjunction with existing habitat restoration efforts on the reservoir? Will the product supplement natural brush, rock, or other materials being added to the reservoir?

The plan is to deploy 5 to 10 new habitat structures to go along with existing structures that were previously placed in Lake Fork Reservoir. The structures will be make of PVC pipe and perforated rolled pipe. The proposal is to have the Yantis High School Vocational students build the project using the specifications supplied by Texas Parks and Wildlife in order to help restore habitat. The LFSA will provide this materials as well as any additional instructions or help needed.

Will state fish and wildlife agency staff be directly involved in the project? How so (planning, site selection, participation in installation)? Is there an associated lake or habitat management plan that states the need for structural habitat enhancement?

LFSA and TPWD will be involved in the planning, design, site selection and will be helping with the installation of the fish attractors (aka Georgia Cubes). SRA will also be an integral part of site selection and installation of the completed fish attractors (aka Georgia Cubes).

List the species that the project is expected to benefit:

The specific species that are being targeted are Bass, Bream, Crappie and Catfish

How do you plan to conduct outreach and advertise the project? (Examples: on-site signage, press releases, websites, message boards)

The LFSA, TPWD and Yantis High School will be chronicling the activity of the build an their respective websites. LFSA will also provide updates on both our Facebook and Instagram pages. LFSA will have the ability to make updates on the project at the local Bass tournaments via the local radio station. When the project is ready to be installed we will notify local newspapers and will submit an article in our local sporting newspaper.
