Project Information
Reservoir NameLake Fork Reservoir
Please describe the project objective(s).

This project to to produce and install fish attractors (aka Georgia Cubes) back into Lake Fork Reservoir. The draw down of 2022 - 2023 to make repairs to the Lake Fork dam along with the lack of spring rains in 2023 caused a deterioration in the existing habitat of the lake.

Please describe the project methods. Will the product be used in conjunction with existing habitat restoration efforts on the reservoir? Will the product supplement natural brush, rock, or other materials being added to the reservoir?

TPWD has requested 5 to 10 fish attactors (aka Georgia Cubes) for placement in Lake Fork Reservoir. These will be placed in conjunction with existing fish attractors and around other existing structures. It is our intent to work with TPWD, SRA and the Yantis High School Vocational department to build and deploy these structures in Lake Fork Reservoir. LFSA will purchase and deliver the materials needed to Yantis High School for the teacher and students to produce this project. Once they have been completed we LFSA will pick up the project and deploy them with the assistance of TPWD, SRA and the Yantis High School Vocational team.

Will state fish and wildlife agency staff be directly involved in the project? How so (planning, site selection, participation in installation)? Is there an associated lake or habitat management plan that states the need for structural habitat enhancement?

TPWD will be directly involved in the planning, site selection and installation. They have also provided photos and a material list of what they have in mind for the project. SRA will also have a part in the site selection and deployment of the finished project.

List the species that the project is expected to benefit:

The fish attractors (aka Georgia Cubes) will benefit Bass, Bream, Crappie and Catfish.

How do you plan to conduct outreach and advertise the project? (Examples: on-site signage, press releases, websites, message boards)

LFSA, TPWD and Yantis High School will note the activity and photographs of the project on their websites. At local major bass tournaments LFSA is afforded time on the local radio broadcast and the project will re reviewed at the time via the airways. Our deployments are typically covered by a minimum of three local newspapers and LFSA submits a monthly article for a local sporting newpaper. LFSA will also post updates on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
